Beach Cottages Painting

Beach Cottage Painting

This is a street down at the Jersey shore, painted from a photo I took a few years ago.  It isn’t exactly a street, more a row of beach cottages leading to the ocean. Take off your shoes, it is just a few steps to the water!

Majorca landscape

Each month the Virtual Paintout travels to a different location in the world using Google street maps to find a spot to paint.  I think it is a lot of fun to look at different places and virtually turn around looking for something of interest.  Majorca has a lot of beautiful places. I was dreaming of actually being there!  This is a small format piece–4×6 inches, oil on unstretched canvas. I taped off a 5×7 inch piece and thought it would look great matted and framed under glass in a ready made frame. It is painted entirely with palette knife.

Scottish Landscape

Virtual Paintout is a site that travels virtually to a different location in the world each month. Scotland is January’s location and artists are invited to look at Google Street Maps and choose a spot to paint, almost like en plein air.  You can click on the map and using the yellow pegman, turn around and crop and adjust your view, or even take a virtual stroll down a side street to see if there is something even more beautiful to paint there.  I chose this location in North Kessock, Scotland, called Old Mill.  To me, it is so charming.  Take a look at all the submissions at Virtual Paintout, and if you are a visual artist, maybe find a spot to make a painting. Google encourages artists to use their images.  virtualpaintoutblogspot.com
