small daily painting 6×6 acrylic/gessoboard
Expressionist female portrait 8×10 acrylic/gessoboard
This is my second painting of the same still life photo posted on Daily Paintworks for the pre mix challenge. Yesterday my acrylic paints dried too fast to allow the pre mixing, so I did each object at a time and thought each one out. Today, however, I added Acrylic Glazing Liquid made by Golden to extend the working time of the acrylics. This glazing medium is great to work with, replacing water for keeping the brush moving and it did actually keep the paints nice and moist. I’m done with the painting, and they are still ready to go!
This challenge is to premix color and paint one object at a time. I’m going to look into some acrylic mediums this week and do this one again. My little acrylic puddles dried too quickly to last through each object, so some retarder or other medium may be just the thing. Thanks to Robin Rosenthal for this challenge at Daily Paintworks.
This still life is 5×7 inches, acrylic on canvas. It will be auctioned at Daily Paintworks beginning February 12 for one week.
